Top, Sportsgirl; Skirt, Skirting Around; Necklace, Disney for Diva
I am pretty sure I have worn this outfit a hundred times. I love it. It is comfy and makes me look ‘finished’ without being an overly complicated outfit. And heck, anything that involves pattern mixing gets a big thumbs up from me!
Today I am catching up on my blogging and #AcWri commitments, in between running errands. If you follow me on Instagram (or Twitter — @WiniC_SRPB for both) I try to photograph my daily ‘to do’ list in order to create some form of accountability.
And I promise. I do wear shoes. I just feel weird wearing them inside!
Top, ThinkGeek; Bottoms, home made!
Today I channelled Penny from The Big Bang Theory – my current night time telly craze. Penny always looks super cute, even when she’s having a day off (or an ‘off day’) in her pyjamas. Of course I had to wear my ‘Soft Kitty’ tee to complete this look 🙂
I spent the day indoors (napping, eating, and texting my daddy) and only ventured as far as next door to do some cleaning (at which point in time I was wearing ‘cleaning clothes’ which do not require
My “middle of the Australian summer” take on the ‘coloured pants’ trend. And yes, I did wear that shirt yesterday. And yes, I did wash it overnight.
And this photo is a great portrayal of the constant shakiness of my hands.
(It was the best out of all of them!)
This was a day of walking and heat and procrastination. We had to take the car into the autoshop to be serviced. We walked home after we dropped it off, then later I walked down to pick it up. And it was hot. Hot, hot, hot.
I procrastinated by making the kitties a new playhouse:
Patch || Daphne || Daphne
Bracelet, Swarovski (staff product); Shoes, Rivers; Everything else, BigW
Monochrome: blue — blue is Daniel’s favourite colour and one of mine too. My engagement ring has (blue) sapphires and diamonds, reflecting our sameness and differences.
I have never had a big shopping budget. Sure, I have a few more expensive ‘staple’ pieces in the wardrobe, but the majority of items were purchased from inexpensive chain stores. This isn’t to say I buy ‘cheap’ items — I still scrutinise every item I purchase for quality and wearability (these items have all been in my wardrobe 1+ years) — but my lifestyle and budget require me to be a little more savvy with all purchases I make.
Today I am running errands in town and then hitting the books. I printed my first day’s worth of reading materials for summer school yesterday afternoon, in preparation for a productive #AcWri day today.
Can you tell I am a pro at self portraiture?
Yoshi tee (JayJays); white hoodie (Mambo); denim skirt (BigW)
We drove to Merimbula today for our weekly shopping extravaganza. I knew it would be a cooler-ish day, but also sunny, so I went with a skirt and then layered a long sleeved (light-weight) hoodie under my (fave) Yoshi tee. I like to drive with the sleeves down, so then I do not get any sunburn.
Right now I am drinking Lady Grey tea and eating almonds. Daniel has gone to bed, I have a pile of papers to start reading (for summer school), and my hot water system has finally been fixed.
If you have had a look through the links listed under peers and further reading, you’ll notice many of them are related to fashion. Fashion blogs are one of my secret loves — academic fashion bloggers are an amazing breed! Whilst I wish to keep this blog dedicated to being my thesis journal, getting dressed every day is an important part of my daily academic routine. If I am not properly dressed, I am not properly ready for the day ahead. Sure, there are days I spend slumming around in track pants, but, for the most part, I get dressed every day. It puts me in the right frame of mind.
However, there are numerous blogger fashion challenges online I like to take part in (if only for my own amusement). One of them is “Everybody, Everywear” — a monthly fashion challenge. This month the theme was ‘black and white’ and here is my attempt at fulfilling this challenge:
Black cardi; white based Disney shirt; black shorts
I wore this outfit whilst doing cleaning work (in a holiday rental), taking Daniel to the doctor (just a check up — no worries!) and then spent the afternoon doing some reading related to my general thesis topic (curating for kids). A comfy outfit that made me feel dressed enough to leave the house.
Instead of worrying about my thesis topic today, I have spent it perusing online shops (hoping to spend some birthday cash). I would love a new, stylish backpack for summer school (and when travelling in general), and have narrowed it down to these two options:
Korea Fashion Dual-Use Canvas Bag
Large Capacity Multi-Use Canvas Bag
I am (patiently) waiting until Daniel gets up from his day sleep to order one of them. I just cannot decide which I like better — I love the simplicity of the first style, but I love the multi-styled nature of the second bag. Both are also within a suitable price range.
Hmm… I think I am leaning towards the second style.
Totally ordered the second bag (plus a cute mint coloured dress).
